Blessed John Duns Scotus (1265-1308), the Franciscan friar recognized
because the “Delicate Physician”, is among the most vital theologians
and philosophers of the Center Ages, but over the centuries he has
fallen into disrepute, or at the least neglect, by comparability with the
“Angelic Physician”, St. Thomas Aquinas.
Curiosity in Scotus has revived considerably partly resulting from his
beatification by Pope St. John Paul II, who known as him the
“defender of the Immaculate Conception” and “minstrel of the
